The Hive is a specialist support provision, led by a fully qualified teacher and supported by a SEND assistant, which enables children with more significant SEND needs to access the targeted, small-group support they require.

Some children access the provision in the mornings for Reading, Writing, Phonics and Maths, while others attend additional interventions in the afternoons.

Children who are taught within The Hive are working at a level that is considerably below that of their peers and require specialist teaching and higher levels of support than are available within the mainstream classroom. Alongside providing this support, a key aim of The Hive is to help children develop greater independence in their learning and within the classroom environment. Through carefully planned teaching, personalised targets and supportive strategies, children are encouraged to build confidence, take ownership of their learning, make decisions independently and develop the skills they need to participate as successfully as possible both within The Hive and in the wider school community.
