Library Visit

Mr Andrew’s class visited Madeley Community Library this morning. The children were very excited to visit as 13 of the class had never visited a library before. All the class were given the opportunity to sign up for a library card and 15 children were given their card today which enables them to take up to 16 books out at a time!

The class had a tour of the library, looked at all the different sections, listened to some poetry and then explored the books. Those who were given a library card were able to use the scan machines to take a book home too! We will definitely be going back next term!

Welcome to Year 5

We are so pleased to welcome you to our Year 5 team! This term we will have lots of fun and learn plenty along the way! You can look forward to lots of PE, art and topics such as North and South America, Properties of Materials and in history we will be focusing on Benin.

If you need anything at all, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the adults in our year group.

SPRING PE

Our PE days
Mrs Lane’s class – every Monday and Tuesday.
Mr Andrews’s class – every Monday and Friday.
Please ensure your child has the appropriate PE kit.

OUTDOOR LEARNING – Spring

We are very lucky to have Outdoor Learning every Monday.

Spelling tests and times table tests will be on Fridays. New spelling lists are sent home each half-term.

TT Rockstars and Seesaw

TT Rockstars is an excellent resource for all of our children to practise their multiplication fluency! All children in Year 5 should have quick recall of facts up to 12 x 12.

Seesaw is our online learning platform and is where we will put any information that we need to share. Please sign up to view your child’s journal as you will get a great insight into what they are up to at school and we can reward them for their home reading and any other home learning tasks!

Home Learning – All Year Groups

If your child needs to learn from home during Autumn Term, please access their year group information page (in Parents News / Classes) for links to teaching videos and learning activities that will help them to make progress during their time at home! Please post their learning onto Seesaw as teachers will be checking journals weekly – they can’t wait to see how you get on!

If you need any help accessing any of the learning, please speak to your child’s class teacher…they are always happy to help!
