Our curriculum is enriched through carefully planned trips, visitors and experiences and we are proud to offer such vast experiences to support the wider growth of our pupils.
Nursery
Our very youngest children visit the theatre at Christmas time and watch ‘Dear Santa’ by Rod Campbell.
Reception / Year 1
Our Reception children have been to our local Sutton Hill church for a Nativity experience led by local residents and Vicar Dawn Taffinder.
In the Spring term, they visit Blists Hill, a local Victorian town to help with their learning about Homes.
Year 2
Our Year 2 children have been to visit Buildwas Abbey which are impressive ruins of a Cistercian abbey including its unusually unaltered 12th century church, beautiful vaulted and tile-floored chapter house, and recently re-opened crypt chapel. The children were able to spend time there being in the moment and touching the walls.
Harrison from Year 2 said, ” I found out that it was built by the river because they could use it to get water. It was so big and it was built like a cross. We had so much fun looking at the church.”
Ethan from Year 2 said, “It was basically built in 1150 and was finished in 1190. I thought it was actually quite amazing. I liked seeing the huge arches and the dark room.”
Ellie from Year 2 said, “I saw the middle bit where the people stand to pray, The walls were rough and made of stones. I liked looking and touching the walls. It was great!”
Year 3
Year 3 had great, fun day taking part in a Stone Age workshop. Widget Workshops, who led the day, enabled children to visualise what life was like in the Stone Age through the use of VR Headsets.
They learnt about the Palaeolithic period all the way through to the Neolithic period of History. Children took part in making a fat lamp using clay and a Stone Age tool which they smoothed and sharpened themselves using authentic techniques.

The Year 5 classes visit to Telford Central Mosque provided to be an enlightening experience, enriching their understanding of our RE topic, ‘How and why do Muslims and Jews pray.’ Through a guided tour and interactive discussion, the children gained first hand knowledge about Islamic practices, and the significance of the mosque as a place of worship.

Eliana said, “I noticed that their carpet went a specific way, also towards Mecca.”
