At Sir Alexander Fleming, we believe that learning extends far beyond the school day. Our after-school club programme provides pupils with exciting opportunities to explore new interests, develop talents, build friendships, and grow in confidence within a safe, supportive environment.
A Wide Range of Opportunities
Our dedicated staff and external providers offer a broad range of after-school clubs throughout the year, ensuring there is something to inspire every child. Activities may include:

- Mindfulness and Wellbeing Activities
Our clubs encourage children to discover new passions, develop existing skills, and experience success beyond the classroom.
Developing Character and Confidence
After-school clubs play an important role in supporting pupils’ personal development. Through participation, children learn to:
- Work collaboratively with others
- Show resilience when faced with challenges
- Develop leadership and communication skills
- Build self-confidence and independence
- Strengthen friendships across year groups
- Demonstrate our values in action
These experiences help children to become well-rounded individuals who are ready to embrace new opportunities both in and out of school.
Belonging, Achievement and Wellbeing
We know that children thrive when they feel connected to their school community. Our after-school clubs provide a welcoming environment where every child can feel valued, included, and successful. Whether representing the school in sport, performing in front of an audience, creating something new, or simply enjoying a shared interest with friends, pupils are encouraged to participate, contribute, and flourish.
Creating Lasting Memories
The experiences children gain through our after-school clubs enrich their primary school journey and create lasting memories. By providing high-quality opportunities beyond the classroom, we help every pupil to broaden their horizons, nurture their talents, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Additional Information
PE Kit and Uniform
Children attending after-school sports clubs must bring and wear their full school PE kit. All pupils are expected to follow the school’s uniform expectations, including the requirement that no jewellery is worn during club activities.
Attendance Expectations
Places in our after-school clubs are highly valued. Once a child has signed up for a club, we expect them to attend every week throughout the term unless there are unforeseen or exceptional circumstances.
Regular attendance helps children gain the full benefit of the experience and ensures that club places are used effectively.
Club Cancellations
Occasionally, we may need to cancel an after-school club due to unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or staff absence.
Should this happen, we will inform families as quickly as possible via Seesaw and/or Facebook. In these circumstances, parents or authorised adults must ensure arrangements are in place for children to be collected at the normal school finishing time of 3:10pm.
If alternative arrangements are required, please contact the school office as soon as possible.
Collection Arrangements
All after-school clubs run from 3:10pm until 4:15pm.
Children should be collected promptly at 4:15pm.
Please note that late collection from any club will incur a charge. We greatly appreciate your support in collecting children on time to ensure the smooth running of our provision.
At Sir Alexander Fleming, every day provides opportunities to shine, achieve and flourish. Through our wide range of after-school experiences, we help every child discover their strengths, develop their character, and enjoy being part of our vibrant school community.
