Code Club

We run Code Clubs throughout the year for different year groups. This term, we have a group of girls from UKS2 taking part in various micro:bit projects. Yesterday, we made an interactive badge that would show a smiley or sad face depending on which button was pressed. Everyone worked really hard to be successful!

European Languages day

On Thursday 26th September, Sir Alexander Fleming celebrated the range of diversity throughout Europe by spending an afternoon learning about different countries in Europe. Each year group was assigned a different country and they did lots of research about the country and the culture which linked with the curriculum. Some year groups learnt about the location of the country, others tried the native food, one year group had a zoom call with a native Swedish speaker and others did art work based a famous artist from that country. All year groups learnt basic greetings in their chosen language. We then had a whole school assembly where each year group shared with the school what they have learnt.

It was a great day!

Välkommen till Sverige! (Welcome to Sweden!)

For European Language Day today, Year 5 were transported off to Sweden. We learnt how to count to 10, learnt some simple colours, video called Mr Andrew’s Swedish friend Alex who taught us some simple greetings and then researched some facts about Sweden. We had a great time exploring the language!

YEAR 5 ART – PATTERN – SUMMER TERM

Year 5 have been working on pattern in their art sessions this term.  They have explored techniques such as tessellation, regular patterns, irregular patterns, symmetry and overlapping.  This week they produced a gallery of their final pieces, choosing their favourite skills to create their final piece of work.  Well done, it was lovely to see the children really taking their time and using the skills they have learnt in their lessons to produce such a high standard of work.

Technology in Sport for Sports Week

As it’s our Sports Week this week, some of our KS2 classes are taking part in a webinar all about technology that is used in sport. From VAR to GPS vests, technology is EVERYWHERE! The children also found out about how technology can help make sport more inclusive, including in wheelchairs and blades for runners. It was a really interesting session and the children got a lot out of it.
