Year 6 Christmas Writing- How To Steal Christmas!

GRINCHMAS

Our Year 6 classes have done some fantastic Grinch inspired work for Creative Writing Day. The children watched the Grinch film and wrote their own instructions for how to steal Christmas!

Look at these fantastic examples:

Cross Country at Chetwynd Deer park

A handful of our KS2 children represented our school in the cross country at Chetwynd Deer Park last week. We were extremely proud of our children, who were absolutely fantastic and gave it their all despite little preparation! We were particularly impressed with some of our children finishing in the top 10, out of a very large number of competitors! A huge well done to all- you made us so proud and showed our school value of success!

Kicking the football season off with an 8-1 win…

We kicked the football season off with a convincing 8-1 win…

On Monday, our Year 5 and 6 girls football team played their first friendly of the season. The girls played at home against Muxton Primary School and put on a fantastic display of football for the spectators. Our girls showed determination, teamwork and spirit as they battled their way to a convincing 8-1 win in their first game of the season. All members of the team played their part, and Miss Brown and Mr Broderick were extremely proud.

Well done all- on to the next!

We Did It! GOLD School Games Award 4 years in a row!

We are delighted to share that for the 4th year in a row we have achieved the School Games Gold Award between 2022-2023! This is a fantastic achievement for all our staff and students and shows the dedication and hard work that goes in to our school PE offer.

The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.

Well done all!

Swimming Pool Success

The arrival of our pop up swimming pool has been a huge success!

Our KS2 children have absolutely loved their first few swimming lessons and shown great swimming progress and water confidence. The Hive and Year 4’s were the first to test out the pool and said “they absolutely loved it and made fantastic progress even from the start of the lesson.” The children have been sensible with the change and made the pool arrival a pleasure. The smiles around school have been wonderful. Lets hope the sun stays out for the rest of the lessons this week!

Year 3 Sports Day

Year 3 had a fantastic sports day yesterday! Our children demonstrated all of our school values and were extremely supportive of each other. All our children got involved and even some parents! Well done to all involved!

Sports Week 2023

What a fantastic week we have had celebrating National School Sports Week! Not only have we had our sports days run every day this week with great success, but our children have been accessing a wider range of ‘active’ activities at lunch time and in the classroom. Some of our classes have tasted healthy food, researched athletes, completed first aid training and accessed a wide range of active cross curricular learning in maths and science.

We have absolutely loved celebrating national sports week and hope to always encourage and promote an active and healthy lifestyle throughout our school. We are looking forward to finding out the winning house for sports day, and completing the postponed Alexander Fleming Mile.

7- aside CHAMPIONS!

We are so excited and proud to announce that our Year 3 and 4 girls football team are 7-aside champions!

After many tournaments to get through to the final, the girls won every match of the tournament. In the final, they drew with Captain Webb Primary School and won the competition on penalties after extra time.

We are so proud of our team who were determined, hard working and never gave up. Well done girls!

PE- Sport SHOWCASE

Its been a very successful week for our school sports. This week our Year 6 and 5 boys and girls headed out to a cricket competition. Both the boys and girls teams did extremely well and came back with 2nd place! Our children demonstrated all our school values and represented our school brilliantly.

Also, a team of Year 5 and 6 went out to a school games rugby competition. We had our best rugby achievement yet and made it through to the county final! Well done all 🙂
