Batik in Year 6 with the wonderful Mr Farlow

Some of our Year 6 friends have had the fantastic opportunity to learn the technique of Batik with Mr Farlow. It is a process where hot wax is applied to fabric to create a resist, followed by ink. This process is then repeated and ironed off. Look at the process and amazing results…

Our ‘C is for Community’ walk

We have identified features in our community this morning. We recognised that the street names all begin with ‘s’ like ‘Sutton Hill’. We also explored inside the Community Centre, as our school artwork is displayed there.

Lunchtime Art Club

Some of our Year 5 children have worked with Mr Farlow this half term, to develop their drawing skills using oil pastels. They have developed their knowledge about colour choice, perspective and blending, and it has linked to their learning about Vikings. They have shown great resilience and pride in their work.

Dental Nurse visit in Reception

Today we have had a visit from Zoe, the dental nurse, to remind us of good toothbrushing habits.

  • Brush twice daily
  • Use a pea sized amount of toothpaste
  • Brush for 2 minutes
  • Visit the dentist every 6 months
  • Spit – don’t rinse
  • Avoid sugary foods and drinks

The children loved practising cleaning the dragons teeth!
