World Book Day – Thursday 5 March

World Book Day – Thursday 5 March

As a school, we believe that reading is important as it helps you to discover new things by enabling you to educate yourself in any area of life you are interested in and to do your own research and thinking. Reading opens the mind and imagination and the creative side of a person.

We will be celebrating World Book Day 2020 by encouraging the children to share a ‘Million Stories’ and they are invited to attend school dressed in their PJs so that we can have one big bedtime story.

There will also be a reading challenge set for the week, which involves children reading at certain points during the day. We will be encouraging children to read for 15 minutes 3 times a day, listen to a story once a day and read at home every evening. If your child achieves this, they get a stamp on their ‘Reading Challenge’ card and at the end of the week will be entered into a prize draw!

There is no charge for this event.

Pancake day .

Today, Mrs Broadhurst did a ‘flipping’ good job making some amazingly tasty pancakes for us to devour.

A massive ‘Thank you’

Year 4/5 University trip

Bike Shed

There is now a new bike shed / area for children to store their bikes and scooters during the school day.

To access the bike shed you will need to go through the main entrance to the school and walk through the side gate and the bike racks are on the right. You will need to ensure that children are locking their bikes and scooters up as parents will have access to this area at certain times in the day.

There is now NO reason for children to be on the school car park on bikes or scooters.

Upcoming dates for your diary!

Please find information regarding upcoming events at Sir Alexander Fleming Primary School and Nursery for the next six weeks.
