World Book Day 2025

We celebrate books every day here . . . but today was an opportunity to show just how much we love them! Check out our amazing costumes! We were also visited by local author Bryher Mackenzie who shared her stories with us and her top tips for writing. This got our imagination flowing and we engaged in workshops about characters and settings. Bryher was marvelled by our ideas! She is even more inspiring because she is an ex pupil of Sir Alexander Fleming and really showed the children that when they dream big they can go far!

Numbers day in year 3

Year 3 ‘dressed up for digits’ in number-themed costumes for the charity NSPCC and took on problem solving, critical thinking and logical reasoning through practical maths games. We opened up a shop where year 3 were customers or shop keepers and had to buy and sell items, give change and calculate totals.

Year 3 enjoyed a practical learning approach which made learning about money fun and enjoyable.

Trip to Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery

Year 5 travelled to Shrewsbury today to take part in a printing workshop at Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery. We studied some of the buildings of Shrewsbury, then planned what our prints would look like. We then created the templates and experimented with different colours of ink. We had some lovely creations!

As well as this, we had the opportunity to explore the museum too. There were different sections, including Shropshire, The Romans and Medieval Shropshire. We learnt lots!

Safer Internet Day 2025

We marked Safer Internet Day today with a variety of activities. The theme this year is: ‘Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online‘. We gathered in the hall for an assembly led by our Digital Leaders. They ‘scammed’ children into thinking they were winning some tempting prizes, but actually there were some bad consequences! The message was that if things are too good to be true…they often are!

Later on, EYFS used songs and small world play to tell the stories about being safe. KS1 took part in a variety of different activities and KS2 took part in the BBC Live Lesson where we had to identify the signs of a scam.

We even got a shout out on the BBC news feed!
