We have been reviewing our safeguarding practices and end of day procedures in school and we are making some changes to how the children are released at 3pm. From Wednesday 8 January 2020, every child will need to be collected from their own classroom external doors at 3pm as we will no longer be allowing siblings to move through school.
If your child is to be collected by somebody different then please ensure you have phoned the school office before 2.45pm and have given the name of the person collecting and a password.

Mrs O’Donnell has returned to work this week and we have an attendance review meeting booked for Wednesday. The main playground doors open at 8.30am and close at 8.45am. Children should be in school during this time and any arrival after 8.45am is recorded as a late mark on our registers. Being late for school impacts greatly on children’s learning as lessons begin promptly after the register has closed. If children are poorly and will be absent from school, then parents need to phone the school office by 9.30am; it may be that Mrs O’Donnell will return your call and usually on the third day of absence we make a visit to your home. If we have no reason for your child being absent from school because you have not contacted us, then we will make a home visit on the first day of absence. We need to work together to ensure all children attend school every day!

The school uniform colour is as follows: burgundy with pale blue

Boys/Girls: plain burgundy sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without logo)
Gold / white / pale blue polo shirts / white shirts / blouses
Black or grey trousers (leggings are not permitted)
Black or grey skirt
Black shoes / appropriate smart boots (no heels)

For reasons of health and hygiene, all children must wear appropriate school shoes every day and no trainers are allowed unless they are for PE or specific activities. High-heeled boots or shoes or fashion/flimsy footwear including open-toes sandals must not be worn to school at any time.

Jewellery

If earrings are worn, these must be plain flat studs and restricted to one only in each ear lobe. Hooped earrings are not permitted for health and safety reasons. Earrings must be removed / taped over during PE and the children must provide their own tape / plasters.
Children are permitted to wear a wrist watch but the school takes no responsibility if the item is lost or broken. Bracelets and necklaces are not permitted.

Hair

All children with long hair, must ensure that it is tied back at all times and particularly for PE. The school strongly discourages children coming into school with ‘extremes’ of hair styles/hair colours – whilst we fully appreciate children want to follow fashion trends, this is not appropriate for school.

Christmas dinner will be held in school this year on Wednesday, 11th December. Parents must complete the form to book their child’s place and it costs £2.30, unless your child is in receipt of free school meals or in Reception/ Key Stage One. Children will be allowed to wear their Christmas jumpers on this day!
