Ghanaian Week

Last week we were very lucky to have a kind parent come and make a traditional Ghanaian meal with us. We helped her to make Jollof Rice. The children explored the ingredients and listened to the process. We tried the delicious dish when it was ready. You could ask your children what they thought!

Lest we forget . . .

We have been marking Remembrance in Nursery this week.

We have been exploring poppies through discussions, videos and expressive art and design.

“Poppy flower, red, black.”

“Lots of poppies.”

“Bunny sad . . . explosions, smoke, dark.”

“You’ve got a poppy on. We remember the soldiers.”

“What is war?”

We explored how we could use materials and objects to form poppies.

Sealegs Puppet Theatre

We were very excited to have Sealegs Puppet Theatre visit our school and perform Edward Lear’s Dream.

We were able to see the weird and wonderful characters from rhymes we have learnt including The Owl And The Pussycat. Piggy Wig was a particular favourite! This has helped our language development and understanding.

The children were highly engaged and sat and watched for a long time! The puppets were beautiful and inspiring.

What a treat…

Our Nursery and Reception children have enjoyed some lovely experiences recently.

Today we have had the opportunity to watch a storyteller, Rob, from SeaLegs Puppet Theatre, tell us about Edward Leer’s dream. His wonderful puppets and story-telling techniques had us all inspired!
