Story time with Mrs Casswell

Hi everybody,

Please have a look at your Seesaw account. I have uploaded a story time session  – basically myself reading Mick Inkpen’s ‘Blue Balloon’.

I intend to do this daily – although I may rope in Mrs Hellowell and Mrs Rodgers to send a video of them reading a story!

Enjoy 🙂

Year 6 Home Learning

Hello Year 6,

We hope that you are all well and enjoying the beautiful weather that we are having!

By now I am sure that you are breaking your days up by having a look at some of the tasks we set you last week (reattached at the bottom if you need another copy). It has been wonderful to see some of you creating tasks of your own too – you’re very inventive! Feel free to magpie each others’ ideas and ask if you need any help…we are here to support you.

Please make sure you are uploading messages or pictures if you can on to Seesaw – we would love to see what you are all getting up to!

Keep safe and keep smiling,

Miss Killick and Miss Walters

Year 6 Home Learning Tasks

Seesaw

Good Morning!

A huge ‘Thank you’ to our parents who have connected up to Seesaw. The photos, videos and messages are keeping us all sane, as we are missing all of the children so much.

It’s fantastic to see the children drawing, making models, exercising, cooking, growing things, having a go at telling the time, reading, writing/drawing shopping lists, tying their shoelaces, making pretend shops, playing and learning with real money, doing scavenger hunts, bird watching… the list is endless, but the most important part is, your children are having fun with you. They are learning, being independent and developing resilience.

For those parents who haven’t connected to Seesaw, please do. (The QR code and access details were in your home learning packs – the first page in the wallet.) This is a safe online platform where we are sharing ideas for work/activities.

Thank you again and stay safe everyone,

Mrs Casswell, Mrs Geran & Miss Dornan.

Seesaw info and more suggested home activities.

Hello Year 3.

We hope all children and families are keeping well.

Please find some suggestions of further activities that your child can complete during school closure.

  • Create your own word search using the spellings provided on your 1st work pack.
  • Write a letter to a relative (who may be alone) and post it (during your once a day exercise).
  • Enjoy some capacity- water play in the garden. Use a measuring jug, see if you can read the scales.
  • Look in the mirror and draw a self portrait.
  • Write a daily diary during social distancing/isolating.
  • Take part in Joe Wicks’ daily PE lesson at 9am (we’ve been doing this too!)
  • Write your own song.
  • Play some board games.
  • Teach a younger sibling a new skill.

We are able to send out parent login details for Seesaw- a secure online learning platform.

Using this we can share more work, you can also communicate with us during the school closures.  If you would like to do this please e mail us with your child’s name.  We will then reply with your Seesaw login details.

Our email addresses are:

sarah.vickers@taw.org.uk

hannah.kibblewhite1@taw.org.uk

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

YEAR 4 – MRS LANE’S CLASS – SEESAW

It has been lovely to see so much work from children on seesaw.

If you haven’t signed up to seesaw already, then please email me and I can send you your child’s login and invite you through email.  My email address is julie.lane1@taw.org.uk.

Warm wishes,

Mrs Lane

Activities

If you are looking for extra activities to complete alongside your other tasks, why not try these:

  1. 10 Day Drawing Challenge: draw something using only your favourite colour (shading is the key) and describe it using a synopsis. Let your imagination go wild.
  2. High Five: draw around your hand, add pictures and words of things you like, to each finger of the hand. Challenge yourself to turn any negative thoughts into positive ones.
  3. Get outside: find something in your garden that you haven’t seen before (it could be an insect or a plant, etc.). Find out what it is, then create a fact book. How many new things can you discover in a week.
  4. Poetry: go on a metaphor and simile walk; this could be a walk around your garden or house. Turn these ideas into a poetry masterpiece.

Enjoy 🙂

DAILY ACTIVITIES – YEAR 4

Times table rock stars – 10 minutes (recommended 2 games on studio and 2 games on soundcheck and then children’s own choice). Please keep challenging teachers and your classmates, I can see your all getting quicker – well done!

Why not watch a super movers times table video of your choice.  Combining exercise and learning.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers

Spelling and handwriting practice.

Physical exercise is so important.  Why not try the Jo Wicks PE challenge – he is doing a live broadcast at 9am but you can take part later in the day.  https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1/videos

Reading has so many benefits so it is important to encourage your child to read throughout the day.  Other activities this may then lead to include writing a character description, drawing a scene from their book, making a prediction of what they think might happen next.

Why not tune in for ‘Elevenses with the World of David Walliams’. https:///www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses

We love Oliver Jeffers!

In year 1 we have enjoyed reading some books by the author Oliver Jeffers. Our favourite is Lost and Found!

You can watch Oliver Jeffers read a book each day at 6pm with your child.

Or follow this link to watch pre-recorded ones.

https://www.oliverjeffers.com/books#/abookaday/

These stories might even inspire you to do some other activities such as creating a story map or finding out answers to questions that arise as you listen.
