Rock Kidz Uk

What a fun filled morning in Reception!

Rock Kidz Uk teaching about #selfesteem and #antibullying through rock music.

We were certainly demonstrating being proud of ourselves…

A is for Alive

For our curriculum focus this term we are exploring what it means to be alive. We have been discussing African animals during this topic and were lucky enough to have Gary the Snail come and visit us. Gary is a giant African land snail and we have gained lots of knowledge about their habitat and needs.

“Gary is not a boy or a girl.”

“They like eating vegetables!”

“Feels so slimy.”

C is for Community

Last term, we were exploring our community and people who help us. On Tuesday, Amy, Tom and Shaun, our local police officers visited us and explained their job and how they keep us all safe. They showed us where people who broke the law were placed in the van to transport them to the station. We were also able to listen to the siren and see the lights flashing.

Art day in Reception 13.3.23

Art days in reception are wonderful! This art day we have created watercolour daffodils, printed in clay and studied a Ghanaian artist Ablade Glover. We created our own pieces based upon Ablade’s bright creations.

What a wonderful day at Blists Hill!

We were so proud of our Reception children today.

They represented our school perfectly – staying SAFE; being SUCCESSFUL with the long walk; having PRIDE in their work at the school; showing RESPECT to others around the town and being BRAVE when we went in the dark mine.

The children enjoyed learning about life in the past, and how different it is now. Can they tell you something that is different?

Madeley library visit – Mrs Casswell’s class

We’ve enjoyed a visit to Madeley library this afternoon. The children were very respectful in the library and thoroughly enjoyed  exploring all of the lovely books. The stories the librarian read to us were super – can your child tell you about them?

Lest we forget…

We have been marking Remembrance in Reception this week.

We have been exploring poppies through discussions, videos and expressive art and design.

“I got a poppy, it’s red here… and black in the middle.”

“Red like blood.”

“The bunny is sad and scared. He’s hiding under a hat because of the bangs…and it’s dark.”

“We remember the people that died…soldiers.”

We learnt about shape, form, colour and line to explore how we could use materials and objects to form poppies.
