Important Coronavirus update – school closure to most pupils

Thursday 19 March 2020,

Dear Parents and Carers,

As you will already know, we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday, until further notice.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open to provide child care for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means and exactly whom this applies to. We will let you know shortly, as to how to let us know, if you believe your child falls into one of these categories.

All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards unless you have received notification from us.

Please note that this is a national closure – so while it is a challenging situation, we are not alone. We will re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is.

Home Learning

Your child’s learning is of course important to us, so we will continue to help your child to learn. Teachers have been and continue to be very busy organising ‘Home Learning’ for your children.

Please use the website links that are posted on our website for you to use at home with your children.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a scheme that the government has just announced.

This is as much as we know right now and we appreciate your continued patience with as we deal with this ever-changing situation. We understand that this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and it’s far from ideal, but we’ll continue to keep in touch with any updates as the situation develops.

As you can imagine the office staff are under enormous pressure trying to answer as many questions as they can.

We will undoubtedly get a lot more information from the Local Authority today and in the meantime are very busy planning how our partial opening and home learning offer will operate.

We ask that you trust that we are doing our best under very difficult circumstances and that as ever, we have children at the centre of all of our decision-making.

Remember: if you or your child feels ill and you want to know what to do next, please use NHS 111 online.

Thank you again for your continued support, and we will be in touch with more information when we can.

Stay safe,

Mrs Tomlinson

Headteacher

Coronavirus Update

Thursday 13 March 2020,

Dear parents,

We have recently had several inquiries from parents in regards to COVID-19.

We have been receiving regular advice and guidance from the Department for Education as well as Public Health England and will keep you updated of any information via either our Facebook page, our newsletter via our website or posters within the setting.

At present, we are assured that the risk to the Telford public remains low and therefore operation will continue as normal.

However to ensure we are keeping the risk of infection to a minimum the following additional measures will be implemented starting immediately.

Parents will not be allowed into school or Nursery at opening and closing times.

Reading mornings are cancelled for the immediate future.

All visitors to the school office will be asked to use antibacterial hand wash.

We are in discussion with the centres of any school visit and are assessing the risk daily.

If your child is unwell or demonstrating cold and flu symptoms, we ask that where possible you keep them at home to recover.

However, if your child has any of the coronavirus symptoms (high temperature, a new continuous cough) then they should stay at home for 7 days.

Please remember to follow school policy to report absence.

If we feel your child is too unwell at school, we will contact you so please ensure we have relevant up to date contact details.

We always ask that children do not bring in toys from home, however this does still sometimes happen and we would like to ask in the interest of hygiene that you discourage children from bringing them in.

If you have a confirmed case of COVID-19 (corona virus) within your family, we would ask that you do not send your child to school or Nursery and that you call to inform us as soon as possible.

Please do not feel the need to express your concerns at members of staff or on Facebook; this situation is out of our control and we are following directives from above. We will inform you of any changes as soon as we are know.
