At Sir Alexander Fleming Nursery and Primary School we recognise the importance of giving our pupils a high-quality computing education to equip them with the skills and knowledge to understand the three key areas of computing (Computational Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy).
Technology is everywhere and it is frequently evolving therefore it is now more important than ever that our children learn and understand how to use technology responsibly, positively and safely. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate where they are able to use and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.

ONLINE SAFETY
Teaching ‘online safety’ in primary school is extremely important because children are using digital devices and the internet at younger ages than ever before. At this stage, they may not understand the potential risks, such as sharing personal information, cyberbullying, or interacting with strangers online. By introducing online safety early, schools can help children develop good habits, such as protecting their privacy, recognising unsafe situations, and asking for help when something feels wrong. It also builds their confidence to use technology responsibly and respectfully. Overall, early education in online safety helps protect children and prepares them to navigate the digital world safely as they grow older.
